Four, or possibly three, two or one, Amsberg families occur in the City of Adelaide during the 19th century:
- Benjamin Amsberg family
- Julius Michael Amsberg family
- Bernhard Amsberg family
Benjamin and Julius Michael are related at least by marriage, with Julius Michael marrying Frederica Amsberg, the daughter of Benjamin. Benjamin also had a brother Julius in Hamburg so it is possible that Julius Michael was a nephew or cousin of Benjamin. Bernhard may be a son of Benjamin
