"Death of Mr. E. W. T. Pustkuchen.

We regret to record the death of Mr. Ernst Wilhelm Theodor Pustkuchen, a well-known and respected resident of this district, which sad event occurred at his residence, Bool Lagoon, near Narracoorte, on Monday night. The deceased was born at Lippe-Detmold, Germany, in 1842, and arrived in South Australia over 40 years ago. He was connected with the firm of Gerke & Rodeman, who for about 40 years carried on business as wholesale and retail grocers, in Rundle-street, Adelaide, and afterwards took over the business. The deceased gentleman was for a number of years President of the German Club, and a prominent member and Past-Master of the Concordia Lodge of Freemasons. Some 15 years ago he retired from business and took up his residence at Mitcham. With his wife and family he went for a trip to Europe extending over four years. After that he returned to South Australia again, and about six years ago the late Mr. Pustkuchen took up land at Bool Lagoon, where he settled, and has followed grazing pursuits there ever since. In 1879 he married a daughter of the late Mr. M. Wiedenbach, and leaves a widow and seven children — four sons and three daughters. All of the family except one son, who is in West Australia, reside at Bool Lagoon. The deceased was only laid up for a short time with an affection of the throat. On Sunday the symptoms became very serious, and Drs. Gunning and Macmillan were both called out to the patient. He passed away on Monday evening. Mr. Pustkuchen was a Justice of the Peace, and was a worthy colonist. Much sympathy is expressed for the widow and family in their bereavement. The funeral took place on Wednesday afternoon, the deceased's remains being followed to the Narracoorte Cemetery by a large number of residents. The Rev. B. D. Beeley conducted the service at the grave, and Mr. George Piatt carried out the funeral arrangements.”
