[General description] Adelaide's iconic South Australian Hotel, established 1879. This view was taken in 1894 after major renovations, the architect being Alfred Wells, the licensee G. Flecker. The people posing in front of the Italianate style building with arched doors and windows are probably the staff. More renovations were undertaken in 1899-1900 under licensee E. Alexander when balconies were added. Sadly demolished in 1971 in spite of public protest. The structure on the left is the former Bank of South Australia.
